The Registrar of Societies is a Department under the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice that deals with registration of societies in Kenya.
For a society to acquire legal status it must be registered in accordance with Section 4 of the Societies Act (Cap. 108). Societies include charitable organisations, welfare groups, recreational clubs, religious bodies, professional associations, and other permitted formations.
